Bio for Chat ‘N’ Chill – The Full Length Story
Chat ‘N’ Chill, a volleyball beach bar and grill, is
an international playground for those seeking adventure and those loving the
sun, sand and sea. Boaters,
yachties and visitors come worldwide to enjoy the casual laid back atmosphere,
menu of grilled island foods, tropical drinks, 6 regulation volleyball courts
and over 1000 feet of pristine white sand beach where shoes are never
required.
Chat ‘N’ Chill was created and built by Kenneth D.
Bowe (also known as KB), a native Exumian. After receiving his MBA in finance and economics from The
University of Chicago in 1973, he went to work for a prestigious bank in
Chicago. As a researcher in
corporate finance, KB discovered future trends in leisure vacations would be in
the areas of power yachts and sail boating. With this vision, KB purchased the land back in 1980 and
continued to permit the cruisers organizing the George Town Cruising Regatta
and Beach Church to use the volleyball courts and picnic area to hold their
daily volleyball games and weekly events…which is still in place today. During KB’s travels to Europe and Asia,
he developed the concept for the design. KB built Chat ‘N’ Chill with his own hands along with his good friend
and local artisan, David Smith, and opened the doors in 1998 to serve the
visiting 400-800 winter boats that make George Town’s Elizabeth Harbour their
home port each year from November to May …and for some even year around. KB says, “We’re not just food, drinks
and a beach, Chat ‘N’ Chill is an authentic ‘out island’* experience that we
are committed to being memorable; come see for yourself how we make your life
‘Better in The Bahamas’”.
Chat ‘N’ Chill is one-of-a-kind. Chat ‘N’ Chill is the most unique
volleyball beach bar and grill in the West Indies where many consider it a
great meeting place. Our clientele
are diversified and inclusive of winter and local residents, many ex-pats that
call Exuma home, as well as hotel guests who are looking to enjoy an island
experience within an island experience that is distinctively “out island”. The draw to Chat ‘N’ Chill is the cool
mix of nationalities and experiences of its guests in unpretentious, simple
surroundings and natural landscape. Guests often leave a business card, shirt, hat or some other “little
bit” of themselves to claim their mark and join the many thousands of others
that have discovered this little, unspoiled island paradise.
Chat ‘N’ Chill is also home to a variety of special
and corporate events including beach parties, bonfires, teambuilding events,
volleyball competitions and much more. It’s “out island” location is the perfect venue that feels like “a world
away” to host a Bahamian-style event or any beach theme party. Chat ‘N’ Chill also features a full
service Exuma wedding planning division, A Wedding Breeze, and has a Certified

*Out-Island: a term also commonly known as the Family Islands is defined as every island outside of the most populated islands in The Bahamas-Grand Bahama (Freeport) and New Providence (Nassau)/Paradise Island, which has come about due to the fact that the two big islands are the center of population and commerce and have been the focus of international attention.
